X-ray Preps
Arthrogram
No prep required. Please bring any x-rays of the affected area that you may have from an outside facility.

Barium Enema (with and without air)
Your colon must be cleansed for this procedure. Westfield Imaging Center will provide you with a cleansing kit which should be picked up several days prior to your test. Please follow the instructions on the kit. While cleansing, please maintain a restricted diet of clear liquids only. Please do not eat or drink anything after midnight prior to your exam.

After the exam, be sure to drink plenty of liquids for 48 hours. The barium may make your stool white for several days. If you experience constipation, please contact your physician.

Esophogram, Upper GI, Upper GI/Small Bowel Series, Small Bowel Series only

Intravenous Pyelogram (IVP)
Please maintain a clear liquid diet for 4 hours prior to your exam. Blood work is required for all patients who are diabetic or have a single kidney. The blood work should be recent (not older than two months) and must include BUN and Creatinine levels.

If you are a diabetic patient on glucophage medication, you must stop taking this drug 1 day prior to your exam. Following the IVP, please contact your physician prior to restarting the medication. Your physician may request that blood work be redrawn.

If you are an asthmatic patient, you must be premedicated with medrol prior to your IVP. Your physician will prescribe the medication for you and instruct you on its proper use.

General X-rays
No prep required for general x-rays or plain films.
